Equipements
Equipements we need to install retractable projector screen are:
- Retractable screen
- Electric drill
- Screwdriver and screw
- Cardboard and a pencil
- Measuring tape
- Hook and bolts
Step 1: Find the best location for installation
Finding the best location is an important step. Because you need a large open wall to start with, you may have a few options to choose from, but it’s best to choose a place where the screen will get the least direct light for installation.
If the light hits the screen directly, you cannot have a clear view. The more you control the light is better.
If you install the projector in a dark room, you have nothing to worry about.
Now, after finding the perfect location, you have to decide whether you want to go for a ceiling mount or a wall mount for installation. If you have enough free wall space in your room and won’t mind drilling some holes in the wall, then a wall mount is the best.
However, if you have less wall space and do not want to ruin the decorated walls, then a ceiling mount serves best feasible option.
Step2: Measuring out the height and viewing angle
Determining the height is very important depending on the screen you are using. If you are mounting it to the ceiling, then there is nothing to worry about regarding height and view.
If you are mounting it to the wall, then it’s essential to check these things. When pulled down the screen, the screen should be two or three feet off the floor.
If you have a theatre set up with rows of seats where people will be sitting behind one another, you should place it a bit higher so that no one’s view is obstructed. Try a few other seats in the room just to make sure each one has a good view before moving on to the next step.
If you are using a portable projector, you have a little flexibility with the steps because you can move it to get the image right.
Step 3: Tape the screen area first
If you want to be sure that you are putting the screen in the right place before you mount it, the easiest way is to tape out the area on the wall where you want to hang it.
Step 4: Install the screen
There are a few ways in which these screens can be mounted. The first is by hanging from the hook or bracket that is mounting to the wall.
1. Use a template to determine hole placement
These screens are not heavy, but they are heavy enough that holding them up needs to drill holes. The right way to get placement is to make a cardboard template. Trace the shape of the bracket and then screw holes, then cut to size to make sure you are drilling in the right place.
2. Drill the holes
You can use a small 3 /16″ drill to pre-drill a hole through the wall to ensure that the holes are level. Since the screen is a little heavy, hitting a stud is the ideal way.
If not, then the easiest way to mount to drywall is to use drywall anchors to help distribute the weight.
3. Get help and screw the screen
Finally, call someone to help you lift the screen into place and use a drill and screwdriver to attach it to the wall. Put the screw in one end first, but do not tighten them all the way. Attach the other side but do not tighten the screw all the way. Go back to the first side, then to the second, tightening the screw all the way.
Step 5: Adjust the screen
After you have finished attaching the screen, it’s time to pull down the screen sheet and attach strings to the hook. The screen should be adequately stretched. Otherwise, you will find wrinkles in the white space.
